I have a question. Since I am already running an Amsoil by-pass oil filter do you think that you could just get a regular oil cooler from one of the 100 off road shops and just put it in-line with the filter? I already have the billet oil filter cap feeding the Amsoil filter downstairs and returning to the billet fill cap. Would it not work because its in by-pass so not "all" the oil goes though? I would think that would be a cheap way to add cooling.
it should work wolffee, might slow the flow through the bypass filters. Might not have that big of a big impact since it is just a small flow through the bypass filters compared to the many times the oil pan is circulated per minute.
by the way, how do you like the bypass. your oil stay golden or still black.
Right thats what I am thinking. If 10% of the oil is going through the by-pass filter then 10% of the oil is getting cooler by the external cooler. It was just a thought. Might help on like long tows. If after the by-pass you put like a 2 pass 7"x15"x2" filter lets say on the grill if you could fit it or on the frame if it had to be, or where ever for that matter just thinking if 10% was cooler before going back down the filler neck it can only be good not bad. Maybe no be a big inpact for people like me that only tow a 3K 20ft flats boat or people running there f-350drw 4x4 groccery getter but for the guys pulling 10K-20K loads every little bit helps. I mean you can pick up a generic cooler for 150 bones.
