Anybody have a grinding problem with front end?

When I am driving and turning left I feel a slight grind on the drivers side. Just jacked the truck up and spun/shook everything with no sign of a grind. We are leaving this Friday on a camping trip which = pulling the camper so no time to have the dealer look at it under warranty.

Just wondering if anybody else had a similar problem.

Mine does it when I turn left and go over bumps, etc. I have wondered about it since I bought it in Nov, 2008. The dealership couldn't find anything. Mine seems to come from the front right side. Hopefully someone can shed some light...

I believe it is nothing. I turned the TC and 4x4 on and off which seemed to make it go away. Possible some wear starting on the factory brake pads as I already have 12K that included a great deal of towing.

Common Problem

From all the research I've done on the web, this is the ABS system kicking in because of your vehicle bobbing around or hitting a bump while turning at a decent speed. I've experienced this as well with my truck which is 100% stock. Nothing to worry about, if you turn off TCS each time you run your truck, you'll never experience it again.

Front end grinding/rubbing noise

I have a new 2010 F150 Lariat SuperCrew and I believe I am experiencing this same issue you have described. I noticed it a couple of times after I turned right onto my street court which has a bump at the intersection crown. I heard what sounded like a rubbing noise and felt a grabbing sensation from the left side. I have narrowed it down to the speed at which I make the turn which effects the spring action going over the bump. If I am at a speed say 10 mph or so, no noise nor grabbing feeling, if I am at 15 mph or a little more the noise occurs and I feel the grabbing. I did turn off the traction control and tried it and tried it at about 15 mph and no noise/no grabbing feeling. Turned the TC back on and repeated and the noise and grabbing reappeared. I only have 650 miles on this new truck and was worried something bad was happening. I traded in my 2007 F150 Lariat SuperCrew for this new one and I did not have this issue with the 2007. The owners manual calls this new? system Electronic stability control (ESC) and says that it operates by applying brakes to one or more of the wheels individually if it detects a turn being too fast. That grabbing and slowing sensation must be from this. I guess I'll have to take the turn slower over the bump in the road and get used to this trait of the new truck. Thanks for your information which helped me find out more on this issue.

So it isnt my imagination as I thought! Nice research. I have no problem with this as long as nothing is going to wrong. As I rack up the miles I dont want to let anything go that may need warranty work.

Still a bit uncomfortable about it

I am still not real comfortable about this, it just doesn't seem like it should do this. I'll discuss with dealer when I take it in for service just to have it documented.

Grinding sound at low speed and turning

I own a 03 f150 4.6l 2x4. Yesterday I started to notice a metal to metal rubbing noise at low speed, low speed of rough road and on turns. Mainly left turns I believe. It is not a constant noise but happens often. At first I thought it was the front right but recently I am thinking it is the front driver side. I have read a lot on this forum about this matter and it seems that they are all 4x4 and no 2x4. Anyone have any insight on the matter? Thanks for your time

If the truck is a 4x4, I would be very suspicious of the vacuum actuated hub. I bet it's starting to fail.
