I got a 95 F150 with a full custom Intake and exhaust, I was just wondering if theres any cheap mods i can do, I do have a small welding shop to made parts
Well you can definitely add some cheating power to it by advancing your timing a little. About 12-14 degrees BTDC would be good. I bumped mine to 11 degrees BTDC and it made a difference. Truck is more responsive. Advancing is to the right, Retarding to the left. It should be set by factory at 10 degrees BTDC. If the engine starts knocking back it off a little. Tool required: Timing Light lol
Wow alright cool, About how much of a turn would i do to the right, If i were to mark the original spot, Or how can i tell i have moved it 3 more degrees

Ok,, once i disconnect the spout, Now all i have to do is move the distributor a little to the right, But what if i dont have a timeing light, I bro has a shop but hes sometime busy, should i just wait, or can just move it a little bit
Well first of all you have to mark the 10 degrees BTDC on your flywheel. It's on the thinner side of it. You might have to give your engine small cranks (like a mosquito sting lol) until it lands on the thinner side. Also you might have to clean it with a brush (not a metal one) because then you will scratch out the numbers. So there is a 10 to the left and one to the right. Don't worry about the one to the left. Mark the 10 at the right. When you locate the 10 you might want to make a mark at about 14 and then that is going to be your little range. So when you do all that and you have a timing light get a 1/2 wrench ready. Start your engine let it warm up to normal temperature, then shut it off loosen up the distributor bolt just to where you can rotate it and disconnect the spout connector (the little fuse looking thingy under and near the EEC test port (left fender). So now that you have disconnected the spout connector and loosened the bolt, restart your previously warmed up engine and aim timing light at the flywheel. Now it's kind of tricky to find the line that sets the ignition timing. It's a little metal part with a straight line. Try to locate it first before restarting your engine as the big *** fan blows hot air at you. It should be around 10 degrees now you wan't to turn it to the right until it is about in the middle of the 10-14 range. If your engine starts knocking back it off (move to the left) until it stops. You should leave it in the middle of the two lines you made. After it is there shut off your engine tighten bolt and reconnect the spout and start engine again. Aim timing light again and it should be pretty much where you left it at. Now go and try it out and if engine knocks remember just back it off some. You should feel more power coming out of that engine.

Well you could do it the old fashion way I guess. Just move it a tad you will hear the engine rev a little higher and then stop and don't move anymore. If it knocks you know what to do. Just don't twist the thing and scratch the distributor to make a mark down at the bottom the base and also where it mounts to the engine just incase it doesn't workout you know where it previously was.
hhmm yeah i was thinking about doing that, But i never gave it a hole lot of thought, i gess i can go get some at pick and pull and use those as a guide and use the measurements for fitting, so that way i still got the ones on my truck, man i could make some crazy headers,, wow i think ill do that,, because i dont mind the work, its just the money, But what about Smog, im in CA so we have to do the gay smog ****
Oh it just pisses me off how some states don't have inspections. I live in TX but the inspection guys in my area could care less if you removed or gutted your cats. Guess I'm a little lucky. Umm... there are some headers that are 50 state street legal. Just build some "shorty headers" look them up on google or something.
