I'm interested Joe. The wife is looking for a different set of gauges. The other light up warning type gauges either seem too expensive or too cheap. Please keep me updated on these.
I'm not sure why you had ECT set so low. I've seen EOT running around 208 when empty on a warm day down in Texas.
My water was that low purely as a test bed. I would like to see it in the 218-220 range for water, 215 range for oil...
Thats what I am asking more or less, where do you guys think the limits should be... High limits on temps, low limits on pressures like oil and fuel, High limits on boost and back pressure...
I'm sure a light would work also.......lol, I would need a bright one down here though.
Longer than I should. If you seen the way my boss loads our trailers, you would understand.
Dirty Job place... I remember that episode! LOL
Once we get past this point the brightness will not be an issue. Once I have my camera back I will show you how bright it is now, even without the face modded.

I guess extra feedback doesn't hurt. I'd have to think about it to come up with suggestions. The whole thing seems kind of bass ackward to me. If I was wanting to know what limits to watch for on a whole bunch of different gauges, I'd be asking you (for obvious reasons Mr. Gauge), not expect it to be the other way around.
Tell me where you would like to see a "warning" light on a gauge set up...
Pyro... 1250*
Boost... 40#
Tranny temp... 215*
Oil temp... 215*
Water temp... 210*
Fuel pressure... >25#
Oil pressure...>20#
Exhaust back pressure... 55#
Diff temp... 195*
Volt reading...11.5 V
Let me know what you think... got something coming I think...
Excuse the pic, crappy cell pic...

Out of curiosity, is it cheaper to have the different colors on the gauges, or is there a way to just make the gauge flash a different color once it hits a certain preset? Might be able to offer more options that way using the same face on the gauge.
As you mentioned, boost depends on mods, I've got a hand shaker, but I could see 215 - 220 on tranny. Oil around 215 would be fine. Don't know about water since my ECT seems unrelicable, but within range of EOT makes sense. I'd think 35 or 40 psi on fuel for a minimum pressure (If I had an OBS that momentarily dropped below that, I'd want to keep a closer eye on that particular guage to see how long it stayed that low). Engine running I'd think 12.5v min is when the light should come on. A good alternator should be putting out more than that, and the idea of a warning is to give you time to react to the situation. No comment on the other numbers since I don't have enough experience watching those.
Well i'll comment on the warning light ya'll can figure out the settings, i say when it reaches the limit it should light up a red light all the way around the gauge. JMOP

The lighting on the gauge is deturmined by the face plate, not the back lighting, like factory gauges. There are White LED's behind the face! The only colored LED is the RED warning light, which will not flash, but remain on until the gauge drops below the preset limit.

I am not sure what the final version will look like, at this point its just like you see, but thats an idea...
Why aren't they going to make the thresholds consumer programmable? Have they thought about it?
Thats what I want... but I dont build the gauges... This might be an option later on, I cant say. I was hoping for some kind of "pot" on the back to ajust, but these gauges are digital...
Right-on, Robin! Seems a little potentiometer access hole would be just the ticket for those wanting to customize theirs.
The gauges may be digital, but the signals they're monitoring start off as analog.
Why they're "digital" at all is somewhat puzzling to me, as a simple comparator and stable reference voltage is all that's needed to accomplish what you're doing. Not rocket science.

User interface to the ESP would be the way to go.
Doesn't the ScanGauge let you set a warning threshold? ISSPro has got to keep pace.

Pop
The gauge recieves what the ESP sends it, which is a PWM signal down a common wire. Remember, there is one wire feeding data to up to 17 gauges... These are nothing like your typical gauges...

And that... Again is what I want, thru the Data logging software... but for now we want to get some data and go from there.
