I had my first dealing with stolen items from my truck...this morning I go out to my truck to find the door slightly open and my BRAND NEW (unopened) pioneer speakers and alpine amp gone!...oh and not to mention my f'in work laptop!!! The one time I leave stuff in there. On the flip side, my Avic F700 head unit was not even touched, along with a camera. I think they also made fun of it by stealing all my change except for a Canadian penny. So my thoughts now are either some kindof alarm for this bare STX or a remote controlled 50 cal. on the roof with with heat tracker. I guess the cheaper route would be a nice loud audiable alarm when the doors are opened even if they are not locked...reason being I want to catch whoever is doing this ****. Any suggestions?
It sounds like it was an inside job. Someone had to of known you had that stuff in there.
I like the Ford alarm system on my F350. Its the Ford gold package and if you touch the truck, it warns the person to get away. If u bump it the alarm goes off. Drop the tailgate and the alarm goes off. If someone set your alarm off, next time you come back to the truck it will tell you it had to set itself off.
A viper alarm is a good alarm too. To be honest, I think Viper builds the Ford gold alarm for Ford.
Last yr my neighbor had his car broken into. He had his laptop on the seat, and his wallet in the glove box. OMG. And its sitting in the driveway all nite? My old Ford was stolen and stripped a few yrs ago, but I got it back, and started over.
Apparently it isn't that hard to break in...this sucks, suspicious of everyone driving up my street. I just noticed some guys in a ranger driving by doin a double take on my truck. The weird thing is they are trailer trash that live right up the road from me. I also went driving around my "hood" to see if anything was possibly tossed in some bushes...I passed some kids that were standing on a corner of a vacant building and they took off running after I drove by them. I am going to go crazy trying to catch these rat *******s!
just dress in black and hide in the back seat and lay some "bait" on the front seat. it may take a few nights, but when they reach in and hear you **** your gun, they will probably stop their car burglary ring.
already looking into the cameras...thinking about getting a doberman, but it probably won't like my jack russel...although, he did eat a frog yesterday which made him kind-of groggy(might be why he didn't bark like he normally does). This is the alarm I am contemplating on getting. Anyone have any idea what all I will need to get this alarm installed?
Man that sucks, especially when it happens in you're front yard. Some friends of mine have a neighbor with a nice new F-250. We were hanging out one day and the neighbor came by to let us know his rig was broken into while parked in his driveway. Evidently he had a GPS stolen the day before while his truck was parked at the Kemah Boardwalk (local entertainment venue). They used the GPS to find out where he lived and came back and finished the job. Why anyone would risk that when all us Texans own guns is beyond me
A good friend of mine got his garage broken in and most of the tools were stolen. House insurance covered them, no problems. He went to a local hardware store and purchased all the replacement tools with the insurance money. He put them inside the cab and covered them with a blanket. He forgot a small tool so he went back to the store to get it. When he came out of the store the truck was solen along with all the new tools. Both hosue and car insurance did not cover this time. He was so p#@$& that he was sick for a week.
Last year someone got into my truck in my driveway, which i think was ballsy cause my driveway is within 30 ft of my bedroom window. Any way when i went to work in the morning i noticed my work gloves on the front seat out of my center console. i just sort of figured either my wife got in my truck before i left or i have my gloves out the night before and unknowingly laid them there. So a week or two went by and I read in the paper that someones truck was broken into on my street and a gun was taken, so that got me thinking and the reported date matched the date that i noticed my gloves. So i called the police and told them that my truck was opened on that night too. Nothing was missing though. Until a few weeks later i did notice that an old Ipod that was buried in my center console was gone. But the funny thing is, is that there is a guy on my circle with the exact same truck as me, im just wondering if someone knew that the other guy had a gun in his truck and they just happened to come across my truck that looked like his, first. Oh well, it is disturbing knowing someone was going through your stuff, but im glad i dont carry a pistol in my truck all the time anymore cause it would have been gone!
I once heard of an alarm that was more geared towards grand theft auto. It allowed the "victim" (Keep reading) to get in the car, start it and drive away. Then the car stopped, locked the guy in and emitted a 120 db high pitched noise inside the car until the cops got there or the owner turned it off.
I say victim because you will probably get sued by the effin thief for permanent hearing damage. Still, very cool security alarm.
I've heard about several auto breal ins at big gatherings like a ball game where somebody may think you'r going to be gone quite awhile. Your GPS is stolen, most people will put they're home address in the menu. So the thief knows your address, and you may be gone a while. I used to have my home address in my GPA. Now under home, it will take you to the local Police Station. Obviously they won't stop, but they're not at my house.
My dads 250 company work truck had the gas ciphened out of it twice in five nights a few weeks back. He came up with the idea of painting a razor blade black and gluing it to the gas cap. Well the thief decided to come back again. This time though he didnt see the razor and left his blood behind. Maybe you could glue one on the back of the inside of your door handle ?
but on a more serious note. I drive an STX myself and have been thinking of investing on some sort of alarm for mine as well. For now I just have dark tinted windows so noone can see in. I also try not to keep any valubles inside of it. Sorry to hear about your stuff jettin jacked. I hope they get ran over by a big Ford truck !

Reason: forgot something
The razor blade sound like a good way to teach somebody a lesson. BUT it's also a sure win for the theif in the lawsuite. And sad to say.... The theif would most likely win.
