I replaced the inner axel seals when I was done my breaks are spongy now. I did nothing to introduce air into the system. I have no leaking of any fluid. My reservoir is not low.
I need to pump the break peddle one time to the feel as before.
With the engine running and the truck stopped if I push hard on the break peddle it will fall to the floor and jump back up at me.
Would this be a master cylinder or the power steering/ break pump?
If ether of these how do I check to make sure?
Thanks for your help
Mine started doing that right before the rear brake line ruptured. Apparently, it is a known issue (known to me now) that the rear brake line rubs the frame and eventually blows. Mine were getting spongy and then blew out the rear line.
The weak point is behind the fuel tank. I see that you have done the Hutch mods. Did you look at your lines when you had the tank out?
If you had a mirror on a flexible shaft, you may be able to see it. The problem is that it is in the "U" of the frame behind the fuel tank (of course the "U" is pointing toward the tank).
I yanked it out when I was replacing it. I did my Hutch/Harpoon last weekend and saw where it rubbed. I adjusted the replacement lines to not be touching anything and zip tied them a little tighter.
(going to sound geeky here) I am watching for a cheap USB video camera to hook into my laptop. I am going to use a flexible shaft to attach the camera for "remote" inspections. I don't know if it will ever help me. In a situation where you are trying to see something in an impossible location, it may come in handy.
Sorry that I couldn't help any more than this. It is just in a place that is impossible to see.
I have been telling folks to check it during their Hutch/Harpoon to help them out, but it is a little late to help you.
