I don't get it, I always have a full tank, have changed my 6.4 at least 10 times and more maybe 20 times on my 6.0.....Never ever had a problem with fuel stopping? I always drain separator , pull and install lower filter then do engine mounted filter, cycle key 3-4 times and off I go!

I was going to attach a photo of my 3 drain pans half full of diesel but this forum is stone age and doesn't accept attachments.

500 smiley icons, though.

I always open the upper filter first before draining the separator. I believe this allows fuel to drain properly and not continue to flow down as air is allowed up from an open HFCM. At any rate in a dozen or so fuel filter changes I've never had more than about a quart of collected fuel.

I changed fuel filters on 2010 F350. The fuel never did stop running when I removed the frame filter. I changed the engine filter 1st. The filters are in but can't keep the engine running for more than a few seconds. Then I have to go through the turn key on for 30 seconds six times just to get it to run for a few seconds again. Anybody have any ideas?

Still have air in the system or the fuel cutoff switch tripped.

Do this: Turn the key to the on position only. Leave it there till you no longer hear the low pressure pump running.

turn key off and repeat.

Ignore the 30 seconds the book says.

Also check your fuel cutoff switch to see if it tripped. It is located on the passenger side of the dash.

Open the passenger door and right on the side of the dash is the door.

I turned the key on and off while listening to the fuel pump instead of timing it. I checked the fuel cut-off switch. It didn't seem to be tripped, but I depressed the red button anyway. I started it but it only ran a few seconds and I did the key thing again and it started for only a few seconds again. I have taken about 4-5 gallons out of the drain valve on the frame filter. Probably at least a couple of gallons went on the ground. Could this be why there's so much air?

No. You can try to open the scrader valve by the fuel cooler and see if you can get it primed there.

Also pull the fuel filters and verify that they were put on correctly.

Are you using OEM filters?

I pulled the filters earlier before I went on this post. I didn't see anyway the filters could go on any other way and work. But if I have to do it again, I will. These filters are not OEM. They came from AutoZone.
I have been doing the key thing for the past hour or so with no change.

Hope that you still have the old ones. Take the knock offs back and get your money.

The OEM are really the best. They are made by Racor. They are the only ones that give the correct fit due to the patents.

Especially the oil filter. Aftermarket ones will starve the motor of oil.
