I don't get it, I always have a full tank, have changed my 6.4 at least 10 times and more maybe 20 times on my 6.0.....Never ever had a problem with fuel stopping? I always drain separator , pull and install lower filter then do engine mounted filter, cycle key 3-4 times and off I go!
I always open the upper filter first before draining the separator. I believe this allows fuel to drain properly and not continue to flow down as air is allowed up from an open HFCM. At any rate in a dozen or so fuel filter changes I've never had more than about a quart of collected fuel.
I changed fuel filters on 2010 F350. The fuel never did stop running when I removed the frame filter. I changed the engine filter 1st. The filters are in but can't keep the engine running for more than a few seconds. Then I have to go through the turn key on for 30 seconds six times just to get it to run for a few seconds again. Anybody have any ideas?
I turned the key on and off while listening to the fuel pump instead of timing it. I checked the fuel cut-off switch. It didn't seem to be tripped, but I depressed the red button anyway. I started it but it only ran a few seconds and I did the key thing again and it started for only a few seconds again. I have taken about 4-5 gallons out of the drain valve on the frame filter. Probably at least a couple of gallons went on the ground. Could this be why there's so much air?
I pulled the filters earlier before I went on this post. I didn't see anyway the filters could go on any other way and work. But if I have to do it again, I will. These filters are not OEM. They came from AutoZone.
I have been doing the key thing for the past hour or so with no change.
