Angry Rotten Weekend

I have spent 3 weeks buying parts ,polishing heads, replacing worn items.. Have fresh 300 bored 60' Heads Milled down (pain when you have to modify your brackets) New offy intake, New EFI manifolds, All new parts including Altenator and pumps and such.. Rebuilt trans. and and 390cfm holley carb.. And painting it all up to put in this weekend.. Get it rigged to drop in and hmm.. Why wont this thing line up.. 1.5 hours later. Hey these motor mounts look funny.. Tried for over an hour to get engine to line up and figure out that the engine mounts are close but when one side is in the other is about 2 inches out.. Grrrrr. They bolt up to engine fine but not to truck.. Anyone tell me wich motor mounts I could have gotten? They are thicker and have a bit more of a slope to them.. Needless to say I'm going to have a conversation with the parts store in the morning..

I went through this too- just get the ones SPECIFICALLY for your truck, and drop the motor straight down. the ones you have will work if you unbolt the pass side mount, lower the motor in, and then install the mount. The motor will sit a little high in the cradle, though.

I third, your experience. You need to have take the orignal ones in and match them up. I assume you have a '76. I know there are two different options for each the driver and passenger side for my 79 - the parts' guys are usually useless too. If you have a *** catalog, take a look at them...

I had taken my old mounts in after the first try. I measured them and They parts people called the store and said.. Oh yeah thats them.. They first set you had were just boxed wrong.. OK! After the third try I had them bring in several mounts from earlier years.. Mine matched a 69 ford mount.. That kinda backs my theory that It was not original engine..
