what is it
i was wondering if someone could tell me what that thing in front of the cat is, it has an 1" pipe coming off it. i dont think its an o2 sensor because thats on the manifold. any way, the pipe broke off and is just hanging there, i hadnt noticed a difference in how its running because it ran like crap before, and its been rusted out. any help would be good, by the way its an 85.

Is it a rubber or metal hose? If its rubber its probably from your air pump. If its metal, its most likely goes up to your EGR. The air pump one will affect the cats. The EGR one could do several things. Nothing major though. One thing would be increased combustion temps. Maybe someone else could shed some more light on this.
