My new project. Pics!

Well, as a few of you know I was going to Texas to buy a truck. My Dad and I left Friday morning about 4:00am, went down to Arlington TX, loaded up the truck, stayed in a hotel in Mesquite TX overnight, and came home yesterday. It was 1350 miles round trip and I averaged 17-18 mpg.(including Dallas rush hour on Friday night) My total wieght was just under 16,000lbs. We broke down just outside Mesquite on the way home; the inner part of the trailer fender broke the tack welds on it and started rubbing the inside of one of the trailer tires, and it was smoking like crazy, we made it to Greenville and found a shop that got it fixed for us and we were on our way, we made it home with out further incident.

The truck has been sitting for about three years, and as you can see from one of the pictures the heads are gone. I have a 95 motor in my shop that I will be installing and will try to make a good truck out of it. I already have two people that want to buy it when it is finished. If anyone has any suggestions about things that I should R/R because it has been sitting for three years, please let me know. The motor I'm installing in it has only been sitting for 6 months so it should be fine.

Here are a few pics,
all loaded up

yeah, it is sorta doing the balancing act, Ha Ha!

yes, this ones running days are over!

BTW, Dallas/Ft. Worth traffic is awful!!! and I've driven in Chicago several times but Dallas takes the cake

Wow, that poor trailer! Truck doesn't look bad though. That had to look neat going down the road, pretty much same truck on and off the trailer.

Thanks Brownie!

We were so glad our trailer problem wasn't anything major!

Otter70, I don't know of any at the moment, Where are you located?

I hadn't decided yet, but I don't "think" I have any big plans for it. Why do you ask?

That is my kinda road trip. And looks like well worth the effort. I drove 1800 miles round trip for a C6 transmission for my 1971 mustang. St. Louis traffic ain't any better.

Hope you keep us posted with your progress.

I'm with 427 Fordman, that poor trailer. I have my 1997 F350 on a 9000 lb lift to do the tranny, and it groans to lift it. I pulled tires, tailgate, spare tire and cassette tapes to make it lighter (just kidding on the cassettes).

Hope you keep us posted with your progress.

I pulled my rig in my signature through Chicago today, what a pain and it was only Sunday traffic. I should have called Chicagodragon as a pilot!
