I have never loaded my slick, as I still don't trust it fully...
But one time while I was still working in construction I loaded 2154 Lbs. of busted brick in my 01 Sonoma. Now, this wasn't just any old sonoma, it was an extended cab sport side, and had the factory sport suspension (Lowered about 1.5 inches I believe). it was not meant for hauling heavy loads at all!
Chelle, Are you planning on putting the red camper that's on the trailer in the photo on the back of the truck. When I look at the photos it appears to have an extra long chassis with the 5th sitting way back over the rear.

Just wondering?

John, I had thought of painting it to match and putting it on the truck. I have given it a lot of thought and sat and stared at the truck for hours trying to envision it on the truck. After all of this I came to the conclusion that the truck looks better as a day cab and would not look as nice with the sleeper on it. Here is what I have come up with. I am going to paint the sleeper the same as the truck and move it from the short flat bed trailer that you saw it on in the picture and move it to the nose of the longer car hauling trailer with the Falcon. I take the truck to a lot of shows and with the longer car hauling trailer I can put the sleeper on it and still have room for two cars or trucks and my diesel generator. If I mount the generator under the side of the trailer I will have room for three cars on the trailer. I have the 65 Ranger, 64 Falcon Sprint convertible, and a 56 f100 big window truck, that I like to take to the shows. I have a truck show I attend every year that lasts about a week long and I usually take my Mustang along so I have ground transportation while the show is going on. About the only thing I use the sleeper for is staying in on the way to and on the way back from the shows. Once I get to the shows I always have a hotel reservation anyway. I have been all over the country in this truck.
Slick towin a Slick, Ol'Bessie, the tow-er, Mater the tow-e, he was a pretty heavy load, trailer is about 1900# and Mater has to be 4500+ his flatbed is covered with 1/4" diamond plate steel. Helped my neighbor lady(89) clean up her yard, had an old car on the trailer loaded with scrap, truck bed loaded with scrap, tipped the scales @ 11,960# without me in it,,, thats another 200.
Love your truck Ms_Michelle
Looks unusual to see the amount of space between the cab and front of the trailer. I think straight truck when I first see the photo.
I know it rides 100% better with the long wheel base.
John
Indeed it does ride much better. The truck originally had a Hendrickson tandem suspension under the rear. Coupled with a short wheel base, you had to have your spurs on to ride in the truck. The suspension under it now is an 04 International air ride. With the air ride and the streatched wheel base it now rides almost as good as my 3/4 ton pick up. Last year I went to a truck show in Huntsville Alabama. My 86 year old mother rode with me as far as Brandon Mississippi to my cousins home. That was a twelve hundred mile round trip for her. She could not have survived the trip had the truck not rode good.
I thought it was as original and wondered why there was so much room. Now I know. It's a custom. I love customs but it's a cool truck any way you look at it.
Not really work related, but I thought that my long box '65 Mercury would be great to haul my Quad around in when I go camping. There would still be room to get the tailgate closed, if Grandpa hadn't of modified the box for stock racks!
Kubota B7100, 1,080 pounds, Loader, 250, box blade, another 250, and the brush hog, another 200 or so, and the trailer probably another 300, I'd guess. I did 50 on the way home, through the hills of north Texas, and even with the 325 gears I have in the truck, I never had to shift out of overdrive (the trans is a single rail overdrive out of an 83). I LOVE my 300-6.
Not much of a load, just a 429 and C6. Only picture i have, ive hauled lots of scrap iron and pulled lots of car trailers with it but never taken any pictures. Mine is a 4x4 F250 with overload springs so it takes some serious weight to start bothering it.
