I own a 1986 Ford Bronco, the other day I lost all of my drive unit.
The transmission has never shown any signs of slippage. The oil is still bright red.
I believe the chain is broke in the 1345, is there any way to check with out pulling it all apart.
If it does need a new chain can it be replaced in the vehicle ?
Thanks for all your help ..
If the 1345 is anything like the 1356 - and I'm sure it is - your chain has nothing to do with rwd. It doesn't even spin in rwd... the power comes from the tranny, thru the planetary assy and straight back to rear yoke.
This also just happened to a buddy of mine here locally. If your shift forks/shift fork pads are severely worn, it can pop out of rwd... but by moving the t-case lever around you should find some way to move the vehicle........if not, your t-case is probably not the culprit.
