Front Fuel Tank Issue
Good Day All, I have a 1994 F150 5.0L Reg Cab Long Bed, the rear fuel tank works perfectly however when switching to the front tank the engine shuts down due to fuel shut off. What are common problems with this issue? Any and all advice would be much appreciated, I thank you for your time.

Best guess is the front tank fuel pump has failed. Best to start by making sure.
1. Check to see that front tank pump is getting12V power. Obviously no power = no worky.
2. Locate the fuel rail on your intake assembly, test for fuel pressure at the Schrader valve using a fuel pressure tester/gauge kit. (Ask friends if they have one you can borrow, you never know.) Look up fuel pressure needed for your 5.0 (45psi+/-?) If pressure isn't high enough, the pump is probably bad.
3. Before you change the pump, find a vacuum hose from the pressure regulator & disconnect it from the regulator. Supposedly if fuel comes out from the vacuum port, the fuel pressure regulator is bad, according to another FTE thread. You don't want to replace the pump unless you're sure it's bad.
4. Replacing a fuel pump can be pretty difficult. Best way for most people is to remove the entire bed of the truck, otherwise, you have to remove the tank from beneath (not fun). Get a GOOD QUALITY PUMP if you have to buy one, as you don't want to do the work over again in a short time.

Do you hear the pump come on? Does it run for several seconds when you turn the truck on? Check the fuel pressure. Check for voltage at the pump connection. If it doesn't come on and there is voltage at the pump then more then likely your pump is bad.

Gentlemen, Thank you for the good advice. I can hear the rear tank fuel pump come on when turning key to on position. No noise from fuel pump on front tank. I will check to see if there is power going to the fuel sending unit/pump and get back to y'all. Again thanks for the help!!!
