302 headers on a 351?

I am getting the exhaust system completely redone from the manifolds back in the next week or two, and have a line on some hedman long tube headers for a 302 for cheap. supposed to be for an 80-86 bronco or 80-95 F series.

the 351 is something like a 302, just a taller deck height, right? do the exhaust ports/bolts have the same spacing between the two? the taller deck will space the headers farther apart right? but will the collectors be too high to clear everything and get the exhaust pipe to?

I searched and went back to 08 and found lots of stuff on headers but not this. I willl keep trying but I dont have forever to make up my mind so I need to know kinda quick. thanks.

The exhaust ports and bolt pattern are the same for a 303 and 351W. You are correct
about the 351W taller deck making it wider at the heads than a 302. I don't know if the
headers would clear everything on your truck. I would try to find out the Hedman part
number for the headers and look on their website to see if you can find out more
specifics on exactly what bodies and engine combinations they were designed for. If
you can't find this info, then trial and error will be the next best way. Good luck.

Yes, I would also pretend to buy some new headers, and see if the part number is the same between the 351w and 302 for these trucks.

If they bent the headers tight enough for the 351w application, then they may fit the 302 also. The 351w being wider is a problem when trying to miss the frame rails. I do know the factory 351w exhaust manifolds are different from the 302 manifolds for this reason.

But you are correct, the 302 and 351w use the same exact heads(except head bolt diameter), so they will bolt to the engine.

alright, I looked them up on jegs, and definitely different part numbers and also the pics are very different. does anyone know if jegs uses "actual" photos or "generic" photos. I would assume actual seeing as the same year and model of truck have different pictures for different engines. I did look at some GM applications as well and it does look like they have different pics for all applications.

but is there any way they would switch them around? because the pic of the headers Im looking at match the set for the 351W, even though they are advertised for the 302. I might just buy them and if they dont work, I will just throw them on craigslist I guess.

anyone have a hedman set for the 351, is this what they look like?
