side effect of disconneting egr valve

I replaced my ipr yesterday and lost a few lights in my gauge cluster.
A little bang on the dash board fixed em up

Ok, so it seems as if the EGR valve is acting up again, and after reading through some great information, I have one question... seeing as there are benifits to leaving the EGR hooked up, couldn't i simply cut the EGR valve stem off and weld or fuse the valves shut so no gas recircs throught the cooler?

Read this entire thread and am now more confused than ever.Closest thing I am to a mechanic is knowing 1 or 2. I have an 04 F250 Supercrew with 32,000 miles on it. Yeah I know I need to drive it more. It doesn't get driven around town. Minumum trip is 50 miles one way and I don't baby it. No issues so far other then when it was brand new the turbo had a carbon buildup and had to be cleaned under warranty. I don't let this truck idle any more than needed to warm up before I leave.
I was referred to this thread by another member on another older thread. On that one they were talking about unplugging the EGR. My truck is bone stock. The software was updated last summer, so if I am correct that update eliminates the throttle plate function. I unplugged my EGR, go the 2 basic codes, but no CEL on. Any issues I need to be aware of?
I would like to do the mods you guys all talk about, but that will be a while as I have to have someone do it.

Yes. That is my understanding; 2003 trucks shows no CEL with the EGR valve removed, all other years must have it physically installed, electrically plugged in & deleted in a custom tune (software). Even then there may be some issues.
Here is my experience: I have a 2003 F350, and installed a full egr cooler delete. When I unplugged the EGR valve itself, regardless of my SCT X3 custom tune (which deleted it from the tune), the fan would not run normally and the engine would overheat. Note, I have never had a CEL come on; regardless of the truck setup (EGR Cooler delete, EGR unplugged, EGR plugged in, etc). I think it's a 2003 thing. But there were codes shown related to the unplugged EGR valve when I scanned the truck with the AutoEnginuity with the Enhanced Ford software. With the EGR valve plugged in, even with the full egr cooler delete (thus, no egr cooler air flow), no codes of any sort show up.
I like the look of the blue anodized blockoff plate and no EGR valve, it's just that the cooling system wouldn't run right with the EGR Valve removed. Having the EGR Valve in place looks more legit and I have passed two CA smog tests even with the full egr cooler delete and a heavily modified 6.0l.

Unplugged/disconnected EGR valve the max fan RPM was only around 900 @ high idle?
I could try an experiment this weekend as I believe our remaining 2005 F550 at work has either the VXCF5 or VXCF7 strategy, whereas mine is VXCF4.

Without going back to the beginning of 14 pages, those numbers seem correct?
Testing a cooling fan per the wsm test it at 2500 rpm, a working fan clutch should exceed 2800 rpm with 100% fanvar#.
Its what both myself and matty had found to be true at about the same time. I did question hotline about a p0405 and fan clutch operation at one point and got the standard awnser of we dont know.
