But was wondering if you could help me. I took my truck into a creek for about 1 minute then parked it on land. The family and I swam for awhile, and when I started the truck it had a horrible idle and wanted to stall out, unless I stayed on the gas. I managed to make it home but it ran like crap and stalled when I came to a stop and also smelled like fire works. Any ideas. I really need to get it running right because its my only vehicle and I want to make it to the bloomsburg 4x4 jamboree this weekend. (its an 89 f 150 super cab with the 300 and a 5 sp tranny.) It has a body lift and 33 inch tires The water was to the top of the rocker panels. THANK YOU

I am moving this for muddslingger...

I am not sure if the fan was in the motor or not, Just got home from work. I started it and it still acts the same, I am about to go pull the cap now. Hopefully that helps. Also I just found a wire hanging from the bottom of the drivers side of the block, not sure where it goes or what its for, its probably about a foot long. This is my first ford so I am unfamiliar with it. (only had it for about 2 weeks. The muffler has been rusted off, could water in my cats be a problem?

wouldn't think that water in the cat would matter... you can heat it up and evaporate it after the pipe is hot enough... how do your tanks look? I know there was a post on here a year or so ago... A guy found out he had a few rust holes on the tank and the water got up and into the tanks. H2O in the gas could be causing running rough problems. This is probably worst case but I remembed that specific case and thought I would throw it out there...

PS good choice on the engine and tranny combo for your first ford! 300 I6's are legendary for reliability and to be low end lil' torque monsters!

thanks everybody, I found the problem a day or two later. lol after I replace cap plugs and wires. (along with motor mount, ball joint and muffler) anyways it was a vacuum line. It popped off the fire wall it goes to what I believe is the intake, I am unfamilliar with ford and fuel injection, so I am really lost anyways i plugged it in and it ran awesome, Thank god.
