I like to be odd and i like the long beds. i wanna build a mild street truck and it'll be a reg cab long bed everyone does short beds everyone so i wanna be different. And i was always told if you can't fit a sheet of plywood or sheet rock and close the tailgate in the back there aint no use for it. Besides i love it when people tell me that my trucks the same length as a big rig and i whip in a small *** parking lot and back into a spot perfect and the people with the smart cars and prius's can't even pull into the spots, i just shake my head and laugh.
For four wheeling, and off road, you cant beat the shortbox.
For hauling stuff you cant beat the longbox, unless you have a trailer, then that wouldnt be an issue.
I personally love this style of truck, both long and short box. I am building a shortbox myself, because they are a little more unique to find, a little more sporty looking, and I have a 2003 PSD, and a 1987 western star if I ever want a real heavy work truck, so I dont need a longbox in an older style truck! (in otherwords, my shortbox is gonna be used as a light duty 4x4)
Short bed looks great and gets around the woods better, but go by a job site and you will see nothing but 8ft beds. To me, a short bed is a toy, a long bed is a piece of equipment that gets a job done.

Very very true!
You know though, in all honesty, at most work sites you wont see this era of truck at anymore either though. Sad, but true.

Plenty of em' left around here........in fact most contractors around here who WORK their trucks seem to have mid 70s to mid eighties F-250s........little less guilty feelings about scratches and dents on old warhorses?
