Well my front diff, the big spider gear pin, its lost the small pin that holds it in place and it will pop in and out as I spin it, and I was wondering if I should fix it, or if I should make it a 'Lincoln Locker'. I know you guys will put me in the right direction, I just dont know how hard it is going to be to get a pin for it is my thing. Thanks guys, much appreciated =D
Yep the 75 and you guys must remember lol I am still paying off the 400 dollars I borroed from my rent to buy this truck, plus whats so bad about the closed knuckle 44's anyway?
There is spouse to be a disc brake conversion kit for these, its sometimes brought up in the 73-79 board. But oh well. Plus not like its going to be a off road monster. and does ARB make a locker for the dana 44?
For the cost of an ox locker, or an ARB Id spend the money on a detroit locker, they are a little cheaper and almost impossible to break. I have had 2 of them managed to break one only because the bearing housing on the ring and pinion broke and sent pieces of steel the through the teeth of the ring and pinion and then the oil ports of the locker, The second one was in an axle I had when my truck was rear ended at approx. 80 mph and hit with enough force to breake the axle housing loose fromthe u bolts and slide all the way up the front leaf perch all the while bending a set of latter bars, and the axle housing itself. This on a ford 9" we had to cut the end of the housing off and use a 12lb sledge hammer to remove the axle, and the only damage to the locker was scarring from the axle splines as we hammered the bent axle out. We then took the locker out and put it in another one where it still works to this day. Thats tough in my book.
yours may be differnt, but the axels ive taken apart had a pin that was threaded that held the main pin. basically looked like a bolt with most of the threads ground off
Well I looked into it and I think the little bolt thing you were talking about, its sheered or gone, and IDK where I could get one and yeah. so I guess my simple fix wont work to well.
