don't laugh! being that our tanks are plastic, is it possible to make a drain plug setup? reason i ask is that my fuel gauge is way off, and i'm sure it has to do with the sender placement. tank was dropped a few months back to replace what was thought a faulty fuel pump. now the tank will be empty, but the gauge will say a little less than 1/4 tank. i keep track of the mileage, but that's a pita! didn't know if the fuel was drained, then the mechanic could see where the sender is in relation to the bottom of the tank and make the proper correction, as opposed to dropping the tank over and over and over again. just some stupid rambling!

Yes, but I believe the real reason fuel tanks don't have drain plugs is because of the potential for them to leak. It was always rumored that the reason was because it would make it easy to steal someones gas. But that's just baloney because those people usually just puncture the tank or stick a hose down the filler neck.
Get 5 gallons of gas in a jerry can and drive it out of fuel. Note where the gage is pointing and adjust your self to it if you don't want to R & R the tank and adjust the float.
attwood rubber drain plugs

other place for rubber drain plugs for plastic tanks in your local bobcat dealer. on the fuel tanks and chain case they use a rubber plug with a metal insert. mine was off a 2000 873G
Hello Alloro, I am not sure on all ford models but I have seen some that had like little security type screening or whatever the material could of been in the filler neck/tube. I had a 93 F 150 dual tank setup and both had it and my 98 expedition cant be done either. On my expy, I found out when I myself tried to get some gas out of it when I had it parked last winter for about a month.
