at the moment i have mastercraft courser AT's and im pretty happy with them. has anybody had any experience with the general grabber AT2? any other ATs recommended?
I have been a loyal BFG customer for 20 years. I love their muds and AT's. I bought my current truck a few years ago and put BFG's on it. 2001 F-150 Ext cab 4x4. I am not happy with them at all. I have had to have them rebalanced at every rotation and they have gotten very noisy. After the second rebalance I took it to another tire shop thinking maybe someone else could balance better. Did not help.
I have about 20k left on these and will probably switch to Cooper or Mastercrafts.
The Tire Shop Owner told me about 5 years BFG made some changes to their tires. Maybe it was longer than 5 years ago but he said ever since then he sees this kind of balance problem alot.
They still off road pretty well but the noise and balance thing is gettin on my nerves.
In Arizona we have a lot of Malapai rocks (lava rocks) my buddies and I hunt alot and off road quite a bit September to January. Over the past three or four years I have learned that I do not like performance of Pro Comp, Firestones, or Grabbers. The rip lugs or traction does not seem to be as good as BFG, Goodyears, and Cooper. I have never wanted to pay for Michelines so I have never tried them.
If your not off roading alot the others I mentioned maybe good tires. Where I drive they are not and have been proven not to be good.
I like the Bridgestone Dueler At Revos, have ran with 3 sets of them now. They are great in everything. I go in mudd with them, small snow, deep snow, rain, gravel, rocks, and I never had a problem, except for swamp. I was down in the swamp up to my step bars and it took a while to get out of that one. Other than that they ride great, handle great and even with low tread never spin on the pavement or paint marks on pavement like Goodyear Wrangler Rts. I live in wisconsin and we have a cabin up north and we go all over in the woods out on the ice on the lake up a really steep drive way and my revos out perform my dads RTS everytime.
My neighbor runs the duratracs on his plow truck and hunting truck, He loves those, goes through anything and they really bite well, little noiser than the revos and bfgs but seem to be a great tire.
