So it was a nice day so I was riding my motorcycle and my little brother called me and asked if he could borrow my truck to pull a 16ft trailer with lawn equipment on it. Being the nice person that I am I told him sure, the keys are at the house. He calls me 4 hours later while I am at work saying that he jackknifed the trailer into my truck. Here is the damage Pictures of the truck and the estimate from the insurance company.
Looks to me like he backed into something. That doesn't look like a jacknife to me. Didn't even touch the bumper, went right above it and down the side pushing your chrome trim forward. I would be a little upset with him I believe. Haha, just proves ya can't keep her safe all the time. Good luck with your truck.
I think we see more threads about other people damaging our trucks than the actual owners... UGH. The link to the cart shows it empty now - maybe it timed out and dumped it but I'd think an entire brand new bed would be in order. Teach him next time to go to Home Depot and rent a truck.
Dang the Bad luck. I sure hate to hear this Rob I am glad it wasnt major. I bet your brother is taking it pretty hard also because he liked your truck also.
Here is the link to the part again. All they called for was a bed side and not the whole bed because the damage didn't get the inside of the bed. It is just the outside skin that was damaged.
I did the same thing this winter in a snowdrift with my truck, not quite as bad and the other side but it makes me sick every time I look at it. Sorry to hear that it happened, but I guess your brother is gonna pay to fix it, so eventually you will be alright. It does suck though.
Someone hit mine the other day while it was parked (AGAIN). I have a 3 inch gouge above the drivers side side marker light and a big set of scratches and dents on the bumper below the head light. I don't know how they did it without getting the headlight, but they did.
How in the world did your brother jack-knife the trailer into your truck? Is it snowing there??
Or did he just back up forgetting he had a trailer hooked up?
Hope you get it fixed quickly and painlessly! I've got damage on my semi truck from an old lady pulling out in front of me. She should be paying for it, but I still hate having to take the time to get things fixed!!
