I had been getting tired of replacing the interior door handles on my '94 every few months. As much as I like the guys at the parts store, sometimes it seems as if I'm spending more on door handles than on oil changes.
I took a ratchet strap and cut two 14" pieces, looped back around and stitched, with some additional stitching done around where the strap bolts to the door spring assembly. (A guy with better tools might use rivets.) It's been some time and no problems! Plus, the doors now look like they're optioned from Porsche.
If I had a camera handy I'd share photos, but I thought I'd mention it because I know whoever owns HELP makes a million bucks a month off these two parts, the plastic and metal door pulls.
This came up a month or 2 ago. I've never had a problem with any of the OBS truck door handles. Did they use the same setup for all trim grades?
It would be a pain if it kept happening.
Same setup, except metal on the earlier models and plastic on the later. I've owned trucks with both and tried both across model years and never had much luck.
