FYI Interior Door Handle
I broke another door handle and went up to Oreillys to get one.
The guy came back with the normal plastic one, and a metal one.
I thought at first it was the handle from the 80-85 models.
It wasn't, it was an almost exact match for the black plastic handle.
I guess it's a new item, the guy said he had never seen them before.
It's in the HELP section and cost quite a bit more than the plastic one at 21.49, so I hope it lasts a life time.
The part number for the driver side handle is 77178m.
So anyway I thought I'd pass this info along, as I know the plastic handle are prone to breakage quite often.

metal ones are off a 80-86 fseries.
A lot of times the cause of the handle breaking is the door ripping or the cable stretching (92-96 trucks). The cable part is why I am putting 87-91 guts in our 92 F250 since all our other trucks are 88-91s.
I do plan to put metal handles in my 88 F150 but only for the looks.

I got a pair of metal 80-86 metal handles off ebay for like 12 bucks shipped, and they work just fine on my 95, they look just a little bit different, but not out of place. I broke my passenger handle closing the door from the driver side with one hand on the handle and one on the arm rest. The door is a little torn where the handle mounts, but I'll address that later, I hardly ever have passengers anyway.

There is a rubber "washer" that the door handle rests on. When this self-ejects the handle is allowed to "over center" and the first few degrees of pull is very hard. Find some sort of spacer to take its place. Using the hole that the rubber bumper once used, I ran a machine screw from the door side into the handle area and ran a nut down to hold it i place. This makes more sense when you look at it. It really makes sense if your other door still has the bumper.
