I meant just for lifting it (then putting stands under it). I was just worried that it might bend the case in or something.
No way, the housing is plenty tough but I still say you shouldnt try to raise the truck with it, much safer to jack one side up, slide in stand, then do other side. If you jack from the pumpkin, the truck can teeter from side to side, not a safe situation. Sitting on a jack, placed under the mid point of the truck, I bet you could push the truck off the jack with a minimum of effort from the side, dont do it. Refer to the earlier post in this thread where the guy narrowly escaped disaster doing something similar, be safe, not sorry. Oh, and the weight may bend the rear housing.........
I bought a 3 ton low profile floor jack to my girl up, then use stands. Ran about $125. but I keep a small bottle behind the seat if/when I get a flat tire, but I think I only used it once.
Think I'll end up just getting a big assed floor jack like everyone else, lol. Bending the case in on the differential is the only thing stopping me from using it for jacking, doesn't seem to be a big deal to me if it's unstable, it'd just fall off and land right back on its wheels, only'd be a few inches like going off a curb or something. I wasn't planning on jacking it up with the wheels off and me lying under there with it you know! I don't get anywhere near the underside of a vehicle until it's firmly on stands, if I can't easily reach to place the stands I just poke 'em with a stick until they're in place. I get crazy claustrophobic under cars, terrified they're gonna fall on me.
