The SROD and TMOD are also aluminum cased, as is the NP435. There may be others as well. I'm assuming it's a 4 speed, since it's supposed to be an SROD. Since you don't mention a non-synch granny 1st, I'll assume it's not an NP435. If the shift lever comes out of the top cover it's a TMOD. If the shift lever comes up off the tailshaft housing with an external link running forward to the tranny housing, it's an SROD.
What year the tranny is, I have no idea as I bought it at a junk yard to be part of the replacement of the 232 v-6 and "three on the tree". {Fords better idea to get decent fuel miliage out of a F-100} The shifter does come out of the top, so that is a big help. Know I have an idea of what to look for when I go looking for a new shifter, as this one sheared off [outside the top portion].
I have, after looking thru search engines 6 ways to next year, id'd the tranny as an "RTS" 3 speed with overdrive, years 78-87. Now all I have to do is find a "shifter", and i'm back on the road!
