My problem turned out to be the FICM after it was replaced all was good. Until August 12th the truck was stolen then found 3 days later down south with the cab burned out after they drove the S#$%&T out of it. Police say it was illegals using it for drug or people.
Geez....you fixed it, only for someone to steal it and run the **** out of it
List price for FICM from ford in AZ was 710.00 but thru the company I work for I got it for 468.00.
Well, thankfully, I was able to fix the FICM using the information in the tech folder at the top of the 6.0 Diesel page.
I was going to start a new thread, but I saw yours and noticed you had zero replies. I thought bumping up your thread might be good for both of us.
Hopefully, it will benefit someone else here in the future.
I'm closely watching the events in Arizona, and have been supporting the efforts of the citizens down there to protect there families, livelihoods, and property. I am disgusted to hear stories like yours. I hope you are able to recover all damages and get the truck replaced.
Thank you for your help and your contributions to this web site. Earlier, you said something about attempting to solder the FICM was something I should try only if "your skills or your desire to learn new things" could be tapped into.
Well, that's how I am. I usually jump into things head first to do things my self. Sometimes its a blessing, and sometimes its a curse.
I got lucky last night, thanks mostly to you.
I hope others can gain from this experience. I highly recommend trying to solder the FICM per instructions when you know your gonna drop the big bucks for one anyway. And of course, ONLY if you feel confident that you can do it. At the very least, take it to someone who can.
even though I just went the route of replacing the ficm I have definatly learned alot from this series of posts and more than likly my next truck will have a 6.0 I will try the repair like you did. And hpefully save the 450 in parts and 300 in labor since it has to be programed. this forum is a great resource and I for one appreciate all the people that take the time to share their knowledge on it. Thanks to all.
