Hi Guys,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> I have a 1973 F-250 3/4 Ton with a C-6 and it just started to shift late. If I take off slow it will wait until 3000 to shift into 2nd and the same into 3rd. It does the same if I jump on it, but it doesn't do it all the time. I checked the fluid level and it is good. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.<o></o> Thanks,<o></o> Mike<o></o> http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Rightside.jpg
Check your Kick down linkage that could be out of adjustment
Wouldn't that do it all the time if the linkage was out of adjustment? What should it be adjusted to? Is there a certian action I'm looking for to adjust it to?
Thanks,
Mike
The Vacuum line is ok that was the second thing I checked, and the first was the trani fluid.
The shifting was not slow, not that I noticed.
I drove it again lastnight and it shifted fine. It almost sounds like something is being sucked up maybe at the pump and blocking the fluid flow?! Does this sound right?
I just got this truck about 3 to 4 weeks ago. It also has a B&M shifter on the floor and possibably a shift kit.
The reason I think it may have a shift kit is when it is running fine and shifting right it shifts like my other one did after I put a shift kit in it.
It seems to shift from park to drive fine. I don't think I have noticed any lag time in manual shifting. What are you thinking if it did shift late?
Thanks,
Mike
Pull the vac hose off at the modulator and see if trans fluid comes out. If it does the diaphragm in the modulator is bad. That might be the sucking sound your hearing.

I will try that in the morning.
I put new nipples on all the blocked off vacuum ports and put a new line on the one going from intake to the hard line going to the module and drove it today and it is shifting fine. But I will check the module I saw a little puff of gray smoke as it finally shifted when it was acting up.
Thanks for the info.

I checked the kick down linkage and it was pretty self explanitory on where it was suppose to be and all is good in that department.
Thanks for the info, all this is very good advice.
