my 75 f250 is getting a little wandery thanks to a blown out rag joint, wondering if anyone has thoughts on just doing a new rag joint or going for a u-joint. where would i get a u-joint and how complicated of a process will this become? this is a 2wd street driven truck, thanks
I just replaced my rag joint yesterday, and was wishing I had a U-joint style!
But Jeg's has a whole bunch of options if you want to change it, and I'm sure there are other places.
Went with a Borgeson (Borgeson Universal Steering Components) shaft on my 76 Blazer and will be doing the same on my 78 F150. The U-Joint style is the way to go. I don't know if you can do it with Fords, but the Chevy guys also snag a 88-92 XJ Jeep shaft and modify it to work for cheap. Flaming River (Flaming River Steering Components) also makes nice stuff. Borgeson also makes parts if you want to build your own.
