four bolt main blocks.
I'm trying to figure out if (or what) ford blocks in the industrial applications that had four bolt mains. I can't find info on it anywhere (for industrial/and or FT applications). I know that some hi po engines had the four bolt setup, but how about anything else? I know chevy had four bolt main industrial type engines, so I would assume that ford would attempt to be competitive in that sense, but...?

The FE block wasn't 4 bolt main but the center 3 mains were crossbolted on the 427. Front and rear mains are 2 bolt. The 427 was used in some marine and industrial apps. Most marine blocks were crossbolted and some of the industrial 427 blocks remained 2 bolt mains. They have the crossbolt bosses cast in the block but were machined for only 2 bolt mains. Of course some were crossbolted too. I don't know what exact applications determined this if any. The 428 was a popular industrial engine also but was 2 bolt main 1-5 and not crossbolted. I have heard about a few FT blocks that were found crossbolted but have never come across one in person. I would think anything is possible.
