Here is the KEY componenet. Your driveshaft DOES NOT CARE if the vehicle is turning right or left, neither does your transmission or your engine. Plus, Ryan, your not going to like me for saying this, but I believe you have "Staked" U joints on your truck. They are generally not serviceable. My 04 has them. Ford has a U joint service kit that they sell, which has a cutter that cuts the stakes off of the U joint, and then you can change it. But again, if it was a U joint, it would do it on right or left turns. I would be looking for something suspension related. Double check your sway bar end link nuts to make sure they did not loosen up on you. Same with your ball joints. I've seen it on numerous occasions (More so with the sway bar end links) that they were not tightened all they way down and move around.

Can you tell if the noise is coming from the front or rear of the vehicle? Which side? If it is front, like I said before, double check your nuts on your sway bar bolts/nuts. Make sure you use more than just your hand too. Because sometimes they can be just so tight you cant move it with your hand, but to the point where it moves when you are driving.

Just wanted to post a link I found of that U joint and tool. FORD F-150 U-JOINT UNIVERSAL JOINT NEW 2004-08: eBay Motors (item 120589362168 end time Jul-05-10 03:54:16 PDT) You can see the tool that you use to cut the stakes.

Staked joints changed in 06 or 07.....so mine are serviceable.......my current thought is the limited slip......its the only driveline...(and it is driveline noise)....part that may be affected differently by turning..... But then again i'm thinking i'll just put ujoints in as they've got 70,000 miles anyhow........the odd part is it only does it during the first upshift while turning right after stopping....

... while going uphill, wind from the south, between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm only on sundays it makes it.

The limited slip diff wont really make alot of noise, it will "shudder". You can feel it. I've never seen an l/s act up turning only one direction too. But who knows.

Can you distinguish whether or not it is front or rear, or is it right or left.

I would say first and foremost, check the obvious stuff. Make sure there is nothing rolling around your bed/back of your cab. Also check to make sure your spare tire is not bouncing around under there either. If all is well you should be able to crawl under there and feel around for loose parts. Possibly look at shock mounts, transmisison mount, sway bar links, and look at your sway bar mounts/links. Also take a look at your leaf springs and where they mount as well. I wish I could hear this noise.

I had a similar issue. My truck would clunk when turning right at low speed when either going in forward or reverse. My issue was up front though and I could feel the clunk in the steering wheel. I had a cut cv joint sleeve that ruined the cv joint.

Lol that makes no sense! But hey, if your problem is gone more power to you. There are just some things in this world that dont add up, but somehow it all works out.
