i have a really strange question. have posted on here about my truck not running right. did tune up, and fuel pressure to rail was low so replaced fpr. still does it, so checked tps. get a steady 0.6 at closed throttle, but when opening up throttle slowly, it stays on 0.6. how is this possible since the truck will run. it is a dog on take-off until it hits about 2200rpm, then it runs fine until it boggs and loses power, then will pick up and run fine again. truck is a 1995 5.0 with 3.55 gears and automatic.
Make sure you are measuring the TPS correctly(on correct pins), it's not just about the closed and open voltage measurements either it has to smoothly increase or decrease from closed to open with no dead spots, an old analog multimeter is best for this.
You can also measure the sensor directly(unplugged from the truck harness) using the ohms scale on a DMM and again you are looking for a smooth increase/decrease in values with no dead spots.
And if your fuel pressure is not reaching 40psi with vacuum removed from the FPR then you still have a fuel delivery problem that will affect engine performance, check that you are getting 12v to the fuel pump and also replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently. If all that checks out then you have a failing pump.
i tested tps with koeo and backprobed connector as according to a post on this site. got a steady 0.6, and like i said, it never changed with opening throttle. will try checking with it unplugged just to be sure. i have about 43lbs fuel pressure at rail with vacuum removed so am assuming this is ok. recently changed filter with tune-up, and truck does this running on either tank.
That is good fuel pressure.
I guess you are using the testing data from here.. Ford Fuel Injection Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Check that it is delivering 5.0v between V-Ref and Sig-Rtn with the sensor disconnected, if so and that voltage drops when the sensor is reconnected that indicates that the sensor is shorted and should be replaced.
