The aveo has the same problem. You better change the belt and waterpump at 40k or you have a 1500in parts bill. The 2010 is much improved but only 1000 less than a cobalt. I don't see the need for it. Just one more of the generals oversights.
I to am a gm tech have worked for gm since I was 19 and have been there almost 20 years. Bought my first Ford in may of 2009 and I have since sold all my gm's and bought fords. I just get tired of workin on the same junk everyday. I find the 6.0 so much easier to work on than the dmax. Dmax turbos are a PITA, lb7 injector warranty time sucks. I bought my 03 6.0 with a failed injector o-ring that melted #2 piston. By the time I swapped the shortblock installed the 03 heads with arp studs, egr delete, re o-ringed all injectors. I was into it for 20 hours labor. Not counting the countless hours of reading on this forum.
We like to stay in the closet. It is a little embarassing who helps us pay for our ford trucks LOL. Those d-max turbos do suck. I put two on the same truck new one was bad out of the box screemed like a whistle at idle. POS chevy stuff.
