Starter Question
I had a scare about two weeks prior and ordered another starter from DB. When it arrived, I noticed it was an OEM style, much smaller. I called DB and found that they were having so much trouble with that larger starter (made in China) that they quit stocking it. So, I am returning the OEM starter and am having to pay shipping on the return.
I do not think I will be buying much if any thing from those guys again.
However, mine died last week in the office parking lot - lucky me and had to use the OEM unit to get me home. I pulled it and carried it to a starter shop near the office and pulled it apart. Wow, the splined shaft on the armature body broke off just behind the spline....very weird.
I had that local shop replace the broken armature housing shaft with a REAL Denso unit and will use it as my spare backup.
I bit the bullet and purchased a true Nippon Dinso made in Japan and paid more, but feel I have a much better quality starter than the China knock off for the Denso.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!

I replaced my starter several years ago and paid $200.00 plus. I find it real hard to believe that a $79.00 starter would last very long in one of these trucks. A good motor in a good truck needs a good starter. Plan on paying for it...mike
My local starter guy uses a supplier in middle Tennessee and got it next day delivery to his shop along with other orders he placed with them.
Suggest you call around to starter houses locally and ask about the real ND.
The one I got was marked with a green tag: 228000-8420, Denso, WET, Made in Japan.
