i have a 1986 f150 with a 302 fuel injection. my question is a ignition coil either good or bad. is there anything like its starting to go bad. if you know what i mean. also when i went to buy plug wires it asked me what type of ignition i had. my coil is the small one on the distributer. thanks
The type of ignition you have is called "TFI" ignition. The ignition module will be mounted on the distributor itself and it has an "E-coil." The EEC-IV computer controls all the ignition timing. TFI ignition was found on the later "feedback" carburetors and on all models that had EFI.
"Duraspark" is the earlier ignition that was phased out in the mid-1980s, found on most carbureted models. The ignition module will be on the driver's side inner fender and it will have a "canister" style coil.
