I changed my spark plugs yesterday and now the Service Engine Soon Light is on. I got the code read and it came up P0354 Ignition Coil D Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction.
Does that mean that the coil is bad or maybe it just isn't making a good connection to the plug or what? Which coil is coil D, does that correspond to cylinder 4???
Could be a bad connection on a plug wire or wires going to the coil. Not sure which one D is though. Is it running bad?
You can switch coils from side to side and see if the code changes. If so, then it is a coil, if not then it is a plug or wire.
I found out that coil D does correspond to cylinder #4 which is the furthest one back on the passenger side. I also discovered that I didn't get the bolt holding down the coil all the way down and the coil had popped up. I guess I cross threaded it or something because the bolt won't go all the way down now. That explains the P0354 code.
I think I could get some lock washers and take up the space to keep the coil all the way down. Will disconnecting the battery reset the computer?
I hate to think what the dealership might charge me to get the threads retapped......
I disconnected the battery, and got some washers to make sure the bolt holding the coil got tight. When I started it back up the service engine soon light didn't come back on and never has.
