2001 5R55E Transmission Problems

About 3 or 4 days ago, I went to pass another car, when the trans down shifted it acted like it missed the passing gear, after letting off the gas the trans shifted fine but the overdrive light started flashing and shifting hard between 1st and 2nd. The next day everything was fine, no problems (so I thought)

Now yesterday while driving home from working cruising down the interstate the trans stopped working. Engine revved but no response from trans. Pulled off the side of the road and found out that I had 1st gear only (no reverse either). Limped truck home and found that when going from a stop it seemed like the torque converter was acting up (excessive rpm to get gear to engage).

After reading some threads on this sight I checked out the link to the valve body replacement. Found on the technical Information thread.

Dropped trans pan and found that the valve body gasket was blown at the reverse servo area. found another area that was blown out as well. So I know I need to repair the valve body gasket.

The question is could this be the only problem with it or should I look further into it before getting the parts to replace valve body cover.

Next question. How do figure out what TSB applies to the valve body and apply it while replacing cover.

Thanks.

I've talked to the local ford dealer yesterday and got the needed parts today. Good Idea about the drain plug, Thanks I wouldn't have even thought to do that before now. I will look into it for sure.
Thanks
Several thoughts if I had to do it again.
Get the Ford valve body separator plate. It comes with the gaskets already bonded onto it.
Definitely install the shift kit. It shifts much better, but not too harsh.
The EPC solenoid replacement came from the dealer and was replaced as a preventive measure only. The Trans Go folks say it is a common failure item.
Definitely do the drain plug. Taking a bath in tranny fluid is not something I want to repeat.
