I see the trim in the wells in '82 pic, I just dont recall ever seeing it with the racetrack trim, looks good though. Thats one of the nicest '78s I have ever seen and the fact that your Dad bought it new makes it all the more better.

Went to KY to visit family, uncle told me who he sold it too, that guy told me who he sold it too, that guy was dead. As a last effort I stopped at the local junk yards asking about it, a ford guy at a yard knew exactly who had it when I said short bed ranger lariat. I had to buy a rust free cab for his other project 78 and paint it, and haul it down there for his approval before he would agree to make a deal with me. I ended up giving him 1,000 bucks plus the pristine cab. Had I not found him when I did he was going to junk Dads truck and use the cab on his other build
Glad I found it when I did....

I do still have the slots...

AWESOME story, redsuperduty!

That is what I call real dedication! I am so glad you brought your dad's old truck back "home," and gave it another chance to shine! What was your dad's reaction when you brought it back home that first time?

Great story!
Will it be something for a movie?
Your car looks perfect. You can see you gave it a lot of TLC. It's shining all the way
