I think the dentsides have the best looking trim that Ford ever put on a truck and I like it all, the full dressers look the best to me.

I love the trim on my 78 Ranger Lariat. I stripped and polished the old trim during the rebuild.

I will have to check out the ends better. I know my racetrack ends come off and was thinking the just upper ones did too. I have 4 or 5 bedside upper only pieces in the garage that I have collected and was going at one time cut two of them down for a short box I had.

I havent got one pic of my truck that the color looks as good as I think it does. Anyways, your truck is looking great and good luck with the rest of it. Its all worth it when you get it back together.
I know exactly what you mean about getting a good picture of the color. Of the 3 pictures I have in my gallery that was out of probably 10 tries. Not that- thats a lot but the majority of the pics don't turn out at all.
Mine does have a lot of pearl to it, it's hard for me to judge your though.
And to futher show its hard to get a good pic, I thought yours looked darker than mine. haha.
Yeah, I cant wait to get it done, it's in the home stretch and I just keep buying more and more new parts. It's going to be a lot nicer than I had planned.

That is one BEAUTIFUL truck you have there, redsuperduty! You did an awesome job restoring the trim on it. I LOVE it!

What kind of hood ornament is that? Is there a logo or writing in that?

center caps

redsuperduty,

I noticed that you have the exact same white spoke rims that I currently have for my dentside. Did you ever use centercaps on those rims, and if so, where did you get them from?

I'm pulling my hair out trying to find some decent center caps that will look good with those rims.

Anyone have any suggestions? I can't seem to find any that aren't over $100 which I'd rather go without than spend...

The trim looks fantastic Red but I noticed that something looked odd to me, well, different than what I am used to. Its the trim in the wheel wells, I think yours is the only one I have ever seen with racetrack trim and the wheel well chrome. I love the color combo, that was a popular combo in the 70s-80s, still looks great.

I say yes for most of the trim... I dident much care for some of the race track trims, but some trucks pull it off nicely!!!

I kinda prefer the trim that came on my truck... looks a little cleaner, well it could do with out that dent!!!

Does anyone know the name for that narrow trim? Or if it came with a specific package? I'm just amazed it came on the dentsides, I've looked over quite a bit of Ford literature and never seen that trim. Did it debut with the 73's?

410F100 if I were to do trim, I'd do it like your truck but I'd leave the wide strip off the very bottom. Your thin trim inside the dent is what I like, with that same wheel well trim you have and drip rail trim.

Thanks for all the compliments on my truck. My Dad ordered it brand new, sold it to my uncle in Kentucky in 82, it got sold a couple of times over the years. I tracked it down and brought it back to my body shop in northern Indiana and restored it. It only has 65,000 miles on it and Dads old business cards & stuff was still in the glove box when I found it. License plate on it was from 1986 when I tracked it down.

Here is me with the truck in 1978, I was 7 yrs old. Dad must have had a lot of weight in the back. He took the bed rails off for a while and had that cap on it. Aaron-71, He ran these white spokers sometimes back then and drilled & tapped them to accept the factory black alum wheel center caps.

Here is the truck how I found it in east Kentucky last summer...

Here she is in process last summer...

Here it is now...

Lariat 85, Dad added the Explorer pkg hood ornament when the truck was new.

Bamaf150, the truck was ordered with lariat ranger xlt pkg and came with the trim you see including wheel well trim, here is the order sheet where Dad picked his options.

What a great story to go along with the truck. You are so lucky to have tracked it down, how in the world did you do it?
