Why do you advise against it, if I may ask? After posing this question last night I did some searching and it seems such a part already exists, though it seems to be used most often on the output shaft yolk. I keep racking my noodle as to why it would present an issue and I can't come up with anything.Thanks.
If its a purpose made part just for that application it shouldn't be too big an issue.
Anything on the driveshaft needs to be precisely torqued and balanced.
Getting a drivesahft lengthened or shortened isn't that much usually. So cost comes out as a wash. Plus they can do a high speed balance to ensure there won't be any abnormal vibrations.
Just retube the front section in front of the center support. Not a big deal for any well equipped driveline shoppe. Or if need to shorten, even easier!
I had a Euro shaft partially retubed and balanced for about $125 a while back. It too had a CSB.
