hey everybody i was wondering if anybody knows whether the ZF 6speed will bolt directly to a borg warner 1356. i am goin to do an engine swap and was thinkin of goin with the ZF 6 also currently my truck is a 1995 F250 ZF 5 speed 4X4. I know the 6 is bigger but i was wondering if it would bolt up. thanks
jesse
I have almost the same question, except I have a 1995 F150 XL, 302, 4x4, M5R2 (Mazda) that is leaking and I would like to swap in a ZF 5 speed. I have the BW 1356 manual shift transfer case. Jasper Engines lists a ZF for this truck, so I suppose it's to the used parts yard and hunt until I find one that will bolt up. I would like to hear from someone who actually has some experience with this swap to see if is a straight swap. I have to change the clutch also and hope that the clutch and internal slave cylinder design is the same for the ZF. If it is much more than a straight swap I will find another M5R2. I wanted the low first gear and may find a use for the PTO outputs on the ZF. It's my daily driver too so I can't be out a lot of time trying to make this thing work.
to answer tomcat6, yous will be a straight swap, except for the needing of a different clutch master, and longer hydrolic line, just buy the ZF one for the truck, other than that, your good to go...and farmtwin, i dont know, but i doubt it
tomcat6 i just read the other day about a guy who did the ZF swap i will look for the thread...it sounded like a direct swap though...the zf has an external slave cylinder...
