If you do have to come to a complete stop, don't stay on the brakes, put the truck in neutral and let off the pedal, trying to let the wheels move ever so slightly as you are waiting to go again. The thought here is to not get hot spots on the rotors.
Then repeat. Done. See if that helps.
Keith-

I do the same thing when I do brakes, but from 60 down to 10 about eight times with as little of time between them as possible. Get them "stinkin" hot. It's called "bedding" the brakes I think. You don't want to come to a complete stop during this or you'll get material transfer between the pads and the disks. I pull back into my driveway and use the parking brake to bring it to a halt and then let em cool. I did the brakes this way on my 99 and they work perfectly nearly 100k later.

I am NOT impressed with Hawk pads. I followed the break in procedure per Hawk. These things suck until they heat up or you put a few thousand miles on them. They almost caused me to rear end another vehicle on two separate occasions. Now I am running 37" tall tires and my truck weighs in at 8620lbs., not the ideal situation for our small brakes. I will go with EBC's the next time around.
As far as Clay's SS brake lines, they are the shizz.

i went the cryo'd ART rotors and carbon/metallic performance friction pads from diesel manor and have to say they are tons better than the stock units. funny that this comes up i too have been looking for braided stainlees lines to put on the F350 and the X as like brendan said with his motorcycles i do the same thing on my quads. huge difference! you can brake with one finger.............

I put Porterfield R4S on my truck and am VERY impressed with the stopping performance. Like "The hand of God reaches down and grabs the truck by the tail gate". My buddy was driving his stint on the last road trip and had to come to a stop pulling a 7,000 pound trailer. He was amazed at how quickly we hauled down from 70 MPH.
Very little dust and awesome cold stopping right from the get go each morning. Very gentle on the rotors.

Ditto on pad brake in which is VERY important to long brake life. get them stinking hot and then let cool.

I was not super impressed with the Hawk pad. Powerslot cryoed rotors until I had to go back to stock for a short time. Wow. Night and day difference. I would never run stock again. Ever

Question, how do you adjust the parking brake on these dually's. I know about the wheel in the rotor drum but my cable is tit on the emergency paddle so to tighten that wheel will make it worst. I push very hard on the peddle and it just starts to hold. The paddle is at the top so I guess its the cable? Chet
