I have a '90 F-150 with a 351W. I am looking to make a few upgrades to improve performance but don't want to do a big project on it so just wondering what are some good inexpensive upgrades that I can do without having to do a rebuild. Such as heads, intakes things of that sort.
Do a complete exhaust system first and then swap out the cam with the Crane 444232.. you won't believe the difference that makes.. HUGH bang for the buck on this motor... no other changes necessary.
a nice set of GT40's or a pair of DOOE heads from a 69-70 351 would do you some justice.. you can usually find the DOOE heads at swap meets for a reasonable price.. most people want 3-400 for cast iron GT40's
I see you have a 3" single exhaust on yours. I was thinking duel with 2" and 40 series flow masters. I will look at pricing for both suggestions and see what I can afford. Thanks for the help.
3" is a little big and 2" is a little small.. best bet would be 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 since you don't have anything done yet and aren't going way over the top and building a 500hp motor
duals on a 4wd is kinda of a waste. the reason i say that is you have the TransCase in the way so the exhaust must make several bends which nigates the purpose of duals. follow conanski's advice.
also what size tires are you running on the F150 right now?
