FICM TEST RESULTS

Having had a week of rough idle at start and some loss of power, I got on here and did some research. Looks like I have an FICM issue. I just want to make sure I am understanding the readings correctly.

Key on, cycling through glow plugs and buzz ~19.5 volts
After cycle awaiting start 48v
Cranking 47 v
After Crank at idle 19.5 v

Based on the procedures and results in the the Tech Folder, am I interpreting this as a low voltage FICM? I am a week out from a 2800 mile road trip towing. Help..

Thanks
Tim

If the voltage reading highlighted in bold red, is what you're getting for FICM_M, then yes your FICM needs to be replaced.

Yes. 19.5 v at idle.

Can they be repaired or is it a replace and pay?

You don't have anything to loose by trying the repair procedure here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...procedure.html

Sorry to hijack this thread, but this question is directed more toward techs, and truck owners who have replaced their FICMs. Has anyone ever experienced a repeat FICM failure? Just curious.

I had a second FICM go out on my truck last month, at this point everything was out of warranty.

I was seeing around 30 volts at idle. Symptoms were very rough idle and missing.

I sucessfully follwed the FICM repair procedure and now see roughly 48 volts across the board. (koeo, cranking and idle)

Good luck.

UPDATE: FICM

Well after a day of being mad about it, I called Swamp this morning and ordered a FICM with the performance flash. Also I got ordered new tunes from Eric at Innovative.

This is starting to get expensive, I am thinking of painting a slot on the side of the fender that says "Deposit Paycheck Here"
