Beware Ford certified

I purchased 2006 F150 in Oct. 09 as a Certified Preowned Vehicle with 13,500 miles. I noticed vibration after purchase, took back to dealer 3 times to fix. (Dealer admitted tech noticed vibration but balanced tires and never test drove.) Ended up needing new pinion gears in rear end. They tried to charge me for new tires. Angry, I stopped going to dealer after 90 day warranty. I have had front rotors turned to stop vibration when braking, and now have to replace parking brake cables and have rear brakes turned. TSB that should have been checked when I first complained of vibration. Anyone know of any recourse on Ford to recoupe money for repairs I've made on my Ford certified preowned vehicle.

Sir, you bought a used truck advertised in such a way that made you feel comfortable. Good luck with that. I hope you reach an equitable arrangement with the stealership.

I always thought Ford pre-owned certified meant that if you had problems they would be covered under the warranty that came with it...I guess this isn't the case?

It is an extended drive train warranty. I am glad I had it. My truck had only 45,000 miles on it and the day before I got married my then fiance and me were picking up my tux and running errands when I lost 4th gear. I could hit 1st, 2nd, 3rd, then the truck would rev really high and I had no gears after that. Well, I was able to drive it to the nearest ford dealer(luckily there was one in the town we were in) since I still could drive about 35 or so. I had never been to this dealer in my life, I told them the deal and they took it in. Well, they were pretty busy, but a week later they finally had my truck done. Turned out a snap ring inside the Tranny broke and that is what cause me to lose 4th gear. They rebuilt a lot of the tranny just to be safe I think, but all I had to pay was a $100 deductible since my truck was certified. I was glad I had it, it would have been a big bill. So it worked for me.

You may find something helpful on this site, Ford CPO Sitemap | Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles | FordCPO.com

If your dealer isn't standing behind the Ford CPO (certified pre-owned) warranty and all. I would put money on the CPO program they offer is a dealer specific program vs Ford's. Look in your paperwork to see if you can find any details regarding this.

Thanks for the tips, I'll check CPO site. I was offered an certified warranty at time of purchase for about $1k, and thought I would never need extended warranty. After all it was a certified Ford vehicle. I've been a Ford man since I've been able to drive, & will probably continue to drive Ford, but I feel betrayed by dealership. After all, truck only had 13k miles, what could be wrong? Dealership advertised vehicle as worry free purchase, carmax report, etc. Truck was at end of 3 year warranty, and dealership warranty was 90 days, & each time I took it back to dealer, they wanted $100 deductible (for mistake they admitted). Service tech @ Karl Flammer Ford was great, thanks Mike, he went to bat for me and made sure I didn't have to pay for service. What really upset me was on last visit when they had truck for 11 days, someone had smoked in my truck, and it smelled like an ash tray. After this, I was done, & I am going to different dealership for service while still under 60k powertrain warranty.
