4X4 binding while tight turning
4X4 binding while tight turning
It makes clunking sound when hubs are locked turning sharply to the left in 2 WD, unlock the hubs,,no noise sounds like axel u-joint trouble to me, did'nt do this last year, seems fine when running straight or slight turns.

Your u joints will thump some in 2wd when the wheel is turned sharp. The u joints are operating at an extreme angle in this situation.
In other words...normal.

The problem is the U-joint itself. If they had used CV joints, it wouldn't do that.
That's why someone said something about independent front ends. I think my brother-in-law's '95 chevy suburban had CV joints in the front end.
However, the Dana 44 front-end in my '74 F250 doesn't bind up like my '01 does. On dry pavement, it's noticable, but on dirt it's not there at all. I was very suprised at how much my '01 tries to rip the steering wheel out of my hand. I just kick the throttle and it stops doing that - kinda digs up the yard though...
