Personally, I'd rather bend a bumper/fender/core support than a frame ...
And I'll say it again and add a piece ... Weight does not constitute strength, engineering does!
Using to heavy of material can actually be weaker, you can only build as strong as the weakest link, additional weight weakens the weakest link!
You appear to be defending your actions as if I insulted you, If I did, Sorry, I didn't mean to do so, I really could care less what you do, It's your project, and how it looks is personal preference.

There is that, true. However, how does one determine how strong is too strong? Bumpers strong enough to pulverize deer upon highway-speed impact are usually also strong enough to bend the frame in case of a collision with a heavy stationary object (such as a large tree or a jersey barrier) or even another vehicle. On the other hand, of you do design the bumper as a crumble zone to protect your frame, then a large deer will do a number on the front clip, and there goes the bumper as well... Reinforcing the frame would be a solution theoretically, and I will eventually be doing so on my truck, but how many people can or are willing to spend the time and resources for something like that?
I was not insulted. I just wanted a bumper that could handle to plow and deer. The later without being destroyed. If I hit something that will bend the frame it would have done so with or with out this bumper and frankie would sadly be no more.

Cool ... I was worried I insulted you some how without intentions to do so. If I intensionally intend to insult one, it will be plainly clear ...
My goals are typically to get peeps to see another side of things, kinda like a Devils Advocate, all to improve everyones knowledge, thats all!
I definitely understand the desires to bounce a deer off and keep on trucking, however here it would be a Moose that gets ya!
I also understand the plow mount strength, they take a lot of abuse.
My buddy that has a bodyshop got a dodge 4x4 in the other day. The guy had hit a deer and the head came trough the windshield and tore off. the head ended up in the passenger seat. That teer totalled to the truck.
That's why you gotta angle the guard properly - ever noticed how them Ali Arc bumpers and the others of that design used on Aussie road trains all slope slightly forward as they go up? That's done so when you hit something it gets bounced forward ahead of the truck, instead of up and over the hood like what happened to that Dodge.
