exhaust ?

I have a 06 F150 with the 5.4 in it, I am wanting to change up my exhaust now. I have a cat on each side the motor in which i want them to stay but my ? is, if i have the muffler shop cut just in front of the y pipe and hook a pipe onto each exisiting pipe that way i have duals and then set a flowmaster 40 on each of those(stacked next to each other) would this be louder than going single in and then going dual out with a 40 series? I have also though about running dual in and dual out with flowmaster muffler # 9525454 which is the best way to go? I want the mean as hell sound and dont really mind the cab drone or the noise...... Hope someone can help out soon, Thanks

Just run the pipes and skip the 40s then.

Mine came to me with a SI/DO series 40 and two tail pipes with nice tips, louder than I wanted but I liked the tips. Sound was a deep sound, just way loud. I added a 2 1/2" ID 28" long Cherrybomb in front in place of a straight section of pipe, made it fit just exactly like the pipe using same clamps, etc.

Much much mellower now, quieter, still deep though. I think it's much like a GT, maybe a hair louder but not much. I really like it.

The drone gets old and the mean as hell sound draws all kinds of attention.

Not at all unusual for off duty LEO taking notice of some one gagging on it in front of Walmart and making the stop a week later to check the pipes and other stuff.
