well was driving home this morning and my clutch went to the floor n didn't disengage the clutch. so i was thinking i need to bleed it, but I'm a one man band. can this be done with one person? i work night so opposite of my brothers and friends n the wife's pregnant. so i was thinking if i just take the cap off the reservoir and add a lil DOT3 and slowly compress the clutch multiple times and repeat that would work?
you dont bleed your clutch system. its self bleeding.... is your master cylinder full of fluid? if so its either your master cylinder or slave cylinder took a crap on you. is there pedal pressure? is there slack in the pedal? it could also be the bushing that goes from the master cylinder to the pedal. you can either replace that again with another plastic bushing or go this rout. i just ordered mine yesterday.....
okay, so i replaced the slave cylinder but still nothing, was pumping the clutch for like 35 min got bubbles but now nothing and it still doesn't work? anything i should try or look for? also there is pressure ever so often then it goes away.
When a slave cylinder goes bad they will leak profusely when depressing the clutch, when a M/C goes bad the clutch becomes useless and may or may not leak inside the cab.
For the price, I would have replaced them both after proper diagnosis and finding that one or the other is bad.
As stated, the design promotes self bleeding, everything is slopped uphill to the master cylinder, in time (short) all the air will work it's way up the the M/C and into the reservoir.
Pumping it constantly will prevent air from traveling up, let it set for awhile then try again, if still nothing replace the M/C.
well haven't pumped it in an hr or so. just did and got nothing. don't know if this helps but when i depress the clutch i can hear like a fluid squirting sound but looked under the dash and don't see any leakage.also that bushing looks new and doesn't jiggle. the slack in the peddle is like an inch from the when its lifted up to when you can feel that the clutch bumps the master cylinder. so i'm guessing its the master cylinder
Okay so I repalced both the slave cylinder and master cylinder. I got a lil presure but, its only 2inches off the floor and the pedal doesn't return to the top? Help please!!!
bench bleeding is when you put the master cylinder in a vice, fill it with fluid, plug the end and pump it until you get pressure. it just primes it. you dont have to, just makes it easier doing it by hand then by foot.
