So today I go to leave work and after pulling about 10 ft. out, I hear a pop and, what looks like steam starts blowing out of the passenger front side/under the truck area. Normally I would say it looked like a radiator hose or something coolant related. Except for the fact the truck hasn't even gotten up to normal temperature. After I pulled over I popped the hood and looked under the truck. I noticed a green liquid dripping all over. Again, I think coolant but it's BRIGHT green. Like neon green. I drove it home (2 miles) and of course it didn't overheat or anything. Yes it's hot here (near New Orleans) but again it's 2 miles. I am thinking it is A/C related. Did Ford maybe add a dye to the stock A/C system? The A/C still worked but it was still dripping by the time I got home so there is still something in the system. I am bringing it in tomorrow for Ford to check it out. Funny thing is I was almost ready to order a tune/dpf delete until this happened. Thanks for any help.
Sounds like a cracked radiator my friend. You may have a slow small leak and it wouldn't cause you to overheat... but eventually it will. Get that to the shop ASAP, but first look at the radiator and inspect for cracks. Other guys will chime in as the weak points to really look at.
Thought so at first, but this is pretty thick liquid, not like antifreeze, and its pretty dam slimey
Sounds like the pressure popped the radiator at a weak point and spewed steam. Was the engine completely cold? I don't know any other green fluids under the hood.
The coolant should not be green. Ford uses the gold coolant. If you have green in there, you better dump it before taking it in as they will say it is not covered under warranty.
The gold coolant for ford PSD has some special aditives.
It is thick bright green.
I haven't added any anti-freeze. Just a little water. It doesn't get very cold in New Orleans.
I could NOT get the truck to over heat this morning no matter what I did and the fluid levels were fine.
Brought it in this morning and I'll let ya know whats wrong.
I've heard of people putting a green dye in the a/c system to detect leaks. I wonder if they put something like that in at the factory and what you're seeing is refrigerant and oil from the a/c.

It sure doesn't sound like anti-freeze.
The guy at the dealer said they put it in from the factory.
