Glacier Blue

The thread about the real Sheridan Blue got me looking for pics of Glacier Blue that my truck is painted. I checked out Earls World it shows.....1954-D Glacier Blue Ford # M-2J-184 PPG paint Code 10911.....as well as Auto Color Library...

AutoColorLibrary - Color Chip Selection

Both show a color that is significantly darker that what my truck is....even under the headliner which has never been removed the color just isn't even close.

Anyone have any pics of a truck painted in Glacier Blue?

You have to keep in mind that color chips are only representative, and not intended to be exact matches. Add to that the fact they are now near 60 years old, colors will change a bit over time, especially given the different ways these could have been handled and stored over the years. Next is the issue of you're looking at a scan of a color chip on a computer monitor that can also be even less representative than the original sample. It's no surprise you might not be able to recognize the real Glacier Blue.

I just did a lot of paint/body work on a customer's truck that is a 1955 with a paint code "D". I had the original paint (well at least as original as the owner can tell) scanned and a paint code formulated. The code is for PPG Deltron Basecoat (DBC)...TCP0421210 "Chuck Lt Blue". This can be ordered from Tri-City Paint (TCP Global) here in San Diego. They maintain the Autocolor Library and do a lot of business on ebay. Here is a pic of the rear fenders to give you an idea of the color...
